Kala Rite

Kala rituals are a traditional practice in Vicia and in most branches of Feri. Kala is defined as "the light, luminescence, pure, bright." In Hawaiian, it also carries the meanings "to loosen, untie, free; to forgive."

In her book, Fifty Years in the Feri Tradition, Cora writes, "Keeping oneself Kala is extremely important in every activity of life.... It means to keep oneself clean and bright and free from complexes within and without."

The following rite is essentially a Ha Prayer made with the specific intent of becoming Kala. When properly performed, it helps to clear complexes held by the Fetch. Complexes may be thought of as energy knotted up by guilt or shame, or by deeply buried limiting beliefs. These knots or blocks may be entirely unknown to Talker. However, they strongly affect the messages Fetch sends to the Godself and at times may completely negate the Talker's conscious desires.

(Please complete Working With Mana & The Ha Prayer before beginning this exercise.)

KALA RITE

Materials: A large glass filled with fresh, clean water.

Raise a charge of extra mana, as in the Ha Prayer, by breathing deeply and calmly in sets of four. Remember to expand your abdomen on the in-breath and contract it on the out-breath. Charge the water in the glass as described in Working With Mana.

Again raise extra mana. When you have a full charge, make a clear image in your mind of the experience of being clean and clear, within and without. Tilt your head back and blow quickly upward, exhaling fully.

Wait a moment, until you feel energy beginning to return from your Godself. Immediately drink the whole glass of charged water and feel the energy flowing throughout your entire body.

Thank your Fetch and your Godself.

The ritual should leave you feeling light, clean, and energized.
