Mandorla Coven is a small group of Feri initiates working to continue
the living tradition of Feri as taught by Victor and Cora Anderson
to their personal initiates.
Mandorla currently has six members. SoulFire and Jim were initiated
by Victor and Cora in 1996, and studied on a weekly basis with
the Andersons until Victor's death. Michele was initiated by Victor
in 2000, and she initiated Leroy, her husband. Corvia (then using
the name Phoenix) and Lawrence first befriended the Andersons
in 1997. Corvia was initiated by SoulFire and Jim in 2002, and
passed initiation to Lawrence soon after. SoulFire, Jim, Michele,
and Leroy belonged to the Andersons' final coven, Blue Circle.
And all six Mandorla members were named by Victor to his Order
of Diana. After Victor's death in 2001, Cora continued to be a
valued source of advice and lore for the entire group, our beloved
real-life Feri Godmother.
Mandorla's primary focus is the material taught by the Andersons
to their own initiates. This information is sometimes similar
and sometimes widely divergent from that taught in other lines
within the Feri/Faery Tradition. To distinguish our particular
path, we've returned to the earliest name for the tradition used
by the Andersons: Vicia. Although Mandorla places a high value
on preserving the oral tradition received from the Andersons intact
and unchanged, we also value creativity and have added our own
original work to the Vicia body of lore.
Mandorla
trains Vicia students in person, using the apprenticeship model. No money is
exchanged for learning our Craft. Although not currently accepting students, we
hope that people who have felt the pull of the Andersons' teachings may find some
information of value in this website.
On the Mandorla Symbol: Mandorla
is the Italian word for "almond." It is also another word for the Vesica
Piscis, the Yoni of the Goddess. As the almond-shaped overlapping of two circles,
it represents the union of opposites.
"To
step into the Mandorla is to move beyond "either-or" thinking - even
beyond ideas of common ground or compromise - and stand in the tension of opposites
long enough for something new to emerge. In the realm of the Mandorla, the whole
truly yields something greater than the sum of its parts, opening doors of possibility,
discovery, and creativity." Quoted from: http://www.kyrie.com/symbols/mandorla.htm To
